a couple of weeks ago i travelled south
to teach a soldering class at a good friend of mine's home
sweet miss tiffany kirchner-dixon
hosted this class in her gorgeous studio
the technique that was taught was
"vintage mercury glass" pendants
in which the students went home with a necklace and a bracelet
involving this technique
class samples:
the beautiful airy studio of tiffany's
(all photos to follow were taken by the fabulous tiffany)
all the students final projects were AMAZING
lots of them had never soldered before
but you wouldn't know it from looking at their works of art
kathy used a high school picture of her mom
for the photo in her pendant
kathy had a stash of fabulous buttons
that i was secretly coveting
tiffany's wonderful necklace
love how she used the cream buttons and sari silk to finish hers off
for kathy's bracelet she used a picture of her son when he was little
it turned out charming
can you believe this student had never soldered before?
renee did an amazing job and i love how she added the tulle bows to her necklace
here is renee's bracelet
love her word she chose
i am sorry we didn't get photos of the other students works of art
some had to leave a little earlier than when class ended
the night before the class
we had a fun "girls night" with fabulous food and drink
"what happens in tiffany's studio involving pink champagne and moscow mules,
stays in tiffany's studio!"
i pre-stamped some metal for the girls
so that we could make cuffs
soldered on some large bezels in which they could choose what they wanted to put inside
my finished bracelet
(the silver solder on the cuff was a happy accident)
renee's gorgeous cuff
kathy's finished cuff
it is so "her" with the aqua flower
again, not everyone's projects were photographed
while i was pouring up the resin in the bezels
i also had a few belt buckles that needed more resin as well
just have to attach the wire linked belt to them and they will be good to go
again, thank you SO MUCH tiffany
for offering up your home for this class
it's always great fun meeting new people
and being inspired by what they create
....fabulous work...am loving the turquoise flower too!
